Today’s news review looks at Justine Greening’s letter to MPs regarding abortion services for women from Northern Ireland and Anne Milton’s appearance at the Sunemployment Roadshow in London.
Letter from Justine Greening
On Thursday, 29 June, Justine Greening, in her capacity as Minister for Women and Equalities, announced that women from Northern Ireland who come to England for an abortion will no longer have to pay for the procedure.
As health is a devolved matter, currently women from Northern Ireland who choose to access abortion services in England are asked for payment. Yesterday Justine Greening wrote to her fellow MPs to say that this will no longer happen.
In future, abortion services in England for women from Northern Ireland will be funded by the Government Equalities Office.
It received widespread media pick-up, including the BBC, the Guardian, Independent, the Mirror and more. The news also received positive responses on Twitter.

Jobs Roadshow
On Wednesday, 28 June, the Minister Anne Milton attended the Sunemployment annual jobs fair in London.
Sunemployment hosted its annual jobs fair this week between 28-30 June in London, Birmingham and Manchester. Major employers attended the job fairs and offered CV advice to attendees with some offering interviews on the spot.
Minister Milton visited to meet both jobseekers and employees, as well as taking part in a panel discussion involving TV star Jeremy Kyle.

It’s the time of year when lots of people up and down the country will be thinking about what to do as school or college ends.
There are lots of options out there. Apprenticeships, for example, offer a paid job with training designed to teach the skills needed to kick-start a successful job and career.
From working at festivals as a live event rigger, to designing cars at leading manufacturers – there will be an apprenticeship out there which suits you whatever your abilities and skills.
If you work hard, nothing should be off limits.
